DARKEST HOUR IN MALTESE POLITICAL HISTORY

A threat to Democracy was seen and heard today in Parliament when Pl's motion on the Power Station extension was passed with 35 votes in favor and 34 votes against. Mario Galea voted in favour of this motion with PL and the Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg said that Justyne Caruna had votes against.
These are all signs of how undemocratic the Nationalist government is! Malta has ended up being a Zimbabwe in the Mediterranean... truly the darkest hour in Maltese political history!

  1. Alex, if Mario Galea intended to vote in favour of the motion, then the opposition should not have walked out. A re-count would have produced the same result. If, however, the vote was cast in error, then surely he should have the right to correct his mistake, shouldn't he? I am sure that if things went as Joseph Muscat wanted - that is - the motion passes thanks to Galea's vote, then it would have been a very hollow victory for PL.

I'd hate to live in a country where motions in parliament can be passed accidentally.

  2. Sorry Ian i do not agree ,A vote once it is registered then must stand and count .Their is no room for mistakes .Their should have been no need whatsoever for a re-count .
Then to accuse an innocent MP of saying yes instead of No was this also a mistake .Well we are seeing the results of that are we not .
